I know people who have told me about their faith saying, “I cannot change my beliefs! I have seen too much! I am totally convinced.” These are people who wish to convince me of their beliefs but are afraid to put their own faith on the line even when convincing proofs are shown. They do not realize that they have completely blinded themselves and just taken the rosy path to destruction.
As for myself, I used to be an atheist. Although technically, it could be said, I was an agnostic because I considered there was the possibility of there being a God. However, I actually was not going to believe in any faith unless I had proof. That’s right: PROOF! Proof that it was right and the others were wrong. Something that could be demonstrated on an objective level. You may read about how I came to faith in Jesus Christ for my salvation in my testimony How do you know what you believe is true?.
There have been times I have certainly had to lay my faith on the line. At one time, some atheists were pointing out to me the alleged discovery of the tomb of Jesus Christ together with family members of His. I told them, “Oh yes! I do intend to check this out!” I said this knowing that if the body of Jesus Christ was actually discovered and proven to be His body, then the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ would be false and Christianity would be a lie. Such a discovery might not rattle some other Christians but that would certainly change me. I could not continue to trust in Jesus Christ under such circumstances. I found out, though, that the tomb said to be His did not actually say on it what they claimed. It was tomb of someone else.
The point of what I am saying is, to be sure you are on the right path you have to keep your eyes open and to be unpresumptuous. You can only seek the truth if you continually do so. Seeking the truth is not when you are sold the story of some religion then accepting being told, “That’s right! You found it! You don’t need to look further anywhere else.” It is a lie! You continually need to consider that anything is possible with the proper evidence. How can we be sure we “found it” if we are unafraid to put that to the test and reconsider what we may not have known before? The reason people are talked to like this is to control them.
The consequences of not objectively considering evidence is that you take the rosy path to destruction. Your future estate may or may not be what you have chosen to believe. Consider the possibility that you might actually be on the path that leads to Hell due to that the gospel to salvation is not what you expected or hoped. Perhaps it is that you have already seen evidence contrary to your personal faith and shut it out of your mind. You will enjoy life like this for a time but then the end of life comes and the inevitable judgement arrives. Take heed early. Don’t check your brains at the door. Presumption is a poor counterfeit for a true faith. Get the facts and you will find the true reward.
The fact of history is that Jesus Christ is bodily risen from the dead. This is a provable historical fact of history. There were over 500 witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This was testified by both believers and even unbelievers in history. This is the cornerstone of the Christian faith with the promise of eternal life to all who trust in God solely through His Son Jesus Christ for salvation. The testimony of the Holy Bible is worth being believed but even that is not beyond being tested out. Find out more and get the facts. If you are sure of your beliefs, then you should be unafraid to seriously look matters over again.
to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. – Acts 1:3 (NKJV)
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. – 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 (NKJV)
