If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

It gets often reported about those Roman Catholics who have become “born-again” that they attended groups of Catholic Charismatics. Is this true? Actually, a number of Roman Catholics did get saved after receiving the gospel. As a result of true salvation, however, they looked for new churches to go to.

For the Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18…

14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?
For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

              “I will dwell in them
              And walk among them.
              I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

17 Therefore

              “Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
              And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
              Says the Lord Almighty.”

Those who stay in the Roman Catholic, subsequent to getting saved by trusting faith in Jesus Christ, get lured back into the beliefs of Roman Catholicism or some hybrid all over again. Hence, the hazard.

Still there are a number of Roman Catholics attending meetings of Catholic Charismatics who speak in tongues and prophesy. Are they saved just because they exhibit such gifts? NO! Some of them will even prophesy in the name of Mary. You need to remember that they are not “born-again” they are CATHOLIC Charismatics.

While the Roman Catholic hierarchy says publicly they question about the legitimacy of the Catholic Charismatic movement, they yet privately say to this movement, “Go! Go! Go!” There have been Protestants that have been deceived into believing these people are all saved and have been led into the error of Ecumenicalism and even converted to Roman Catholicism. Still, is the Church of Rome watering down the liquor or liquoring up the water? The Roman church has their own ecumenical purposes for their Catholic Charismatic meetings, namely, in order to win over the Protestants.

Do as the LORD says to do in 2 Corinthians 6:17 and “Come out from among them and be separate“.

Expected to worship Mary? http://maverickchristians.com/2020/10/05/expected-to-worship-mary/ Mon, 05 Oct 2020 13:42:59 +0000 http://maverickchristians.com/?p=15865 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. Indeed, Roman Catholics know they are not supposed to worship Mary since Mary is not God but does that really change matters? They will tell you, “Oh, no! We don’t worship Mary! We pray to Mary.”

Then, when you ask other Roman Catholics, they will tell you, “Oh, no! We don’t pray to Mary! We honor Mary!”
So which is it that the Roman Catholic Church tells their people to do?

Below are NOT “checkboxes”, they are “radio buttons” since this is NOT multiple choice.
What does the Roman Catholic church TELL you to do…

    WORSHIP MARY
    PRAY TO MARY
    HONOR MARY

(Are you STILL clicking multiple radio buttons? For shame on you.)

Well, here is the Roman Catholic Church’s own answer from the Catechism of the Catholic Church…

971 “All generations will call me blessed”: “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.” The Church rightly honors “the Blessed Virgin with special devotion. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . . . This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration.” The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.

There you have it! While Roman Catholics are not, according to their favorite denomination, supposed to worship Mary like she is God, they are still expected to worship Mary.

How many times and websites are supposed Roman Catholic people saying otherwise to you in order to pacify others who are outsiders to the Roman church? It goes on a lot. Still, don’t be fooled.

Also, don’t let someone play with your mind about what the CCC plainly says… “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.” The word “intrinsic” means that it belongs naturally and is essential. In reality, even lesser forms of worship, if there really are such, is still worship.

The Holy Bible says to worship GOD! Revelation 22:9 has the text of the angel speaking with the Apostle John… But he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” No, the Apostle John was not told to worship Mary nor anyone else, neither instead nor in addition.

You understand this straight! You are supposed to worship GOD and none other! Yes, Jesus Christ is God the Son, so YES, you should worship Jesus!

That’s right! You have been lied to by the Roman Catholic Church.
Now, cut the excuses and REPENT!

The “Duck and Cover” Scapulars http://maverickchristians.com/2020/10/04/the-duck-and-cover-scapulars/ Sun, 04 Oct 2020 16:47:25 +0000 http://maverickchristians.com/?p=15809 Do scapulars really protect you from the flames of Purgatory or Hell?

CATHOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

When there was fear of Atomic war in the 1950s, the public could easily gone into panic if it were not for the “Duck and Cover” policy promoted. Scapulars are Roman Catholicism’s own version of “Duck and Cover”, a feigned hope.

“Duck and Cover” was taught for even children attending public school with films showed about it then. Roman Catholics have their own fear, namely that of Purgatory. Would you find it comfortable to believe that after you die, if you are found faithful in the Roman Catholic Church, that you will burn for centuries in the fires of Purgatory? They teach that these fires are equal to that of Hell. The scapular itself says that it will save you from “eternal torment”. Will this object actually reduce your time burning if you really think you are going to Purgatory? Honestly, do you believe that wearing this thing can save you from the judgment of God despite even your willful sins?

The Roman Catholic Church will not want to tell you about this scapular either since they collect so much money from people paying for indulgences. Still, if some believe in Roman Catholicism, even the fear of Purgatory can freak them out so there exists something that may keep members from leaving. So, the Roman Catholic Church has this old teaching, which is not actually approved and canonized in the Roman Church, but is still yet commonly believed. Scapulars, in fact, actually help nobody.

The scapular of “Our Lady of Mount Carmel” is said, among many Roman Catholics, that “whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire” and even told to grant relief from Purgatory. Would that include “Non-Catholics”, too? Could this lady really be telling the truth from anyone’s perspective? Still, due to the words of this scapular, there are many Roman Catholics who will always wear this scapular even when sleeping or showering.

This scapular encourages a lame excuse for a lack accountability before God. It tosses aside any kind of resemblance to faith in God. It does not save people from the eternal torment of Hell nor does it save anybody from a place which does not actually even exist, called Purgatory.

Although ducking under a desk might save some people from the blinding light of an atomic blast, it would not protect them from the blast itself, bring down the building, nor would it save them from the oncoming radiation. Still, being taught “Duck and Cover” gave them something they could feel they were doing which would distract them from the possible horrible circumstances. There would be no deliverance from the explosion and lethal radiation.

Likewise, scapulars will save nobody from Purgatory because that place does not exist. Neither yet do they save anyone from Hell, nor the “Day of Judgement”, nor even yet the dreaded eternal “Lake of Fire”. No scapular will save you from those. Now you know. O.K., that’s the bad news for many Roman Catholics.

Now for some good news! There is something that really will save you from the flames of Hell and the Lake of Fire… Trusting faith in God solely through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus shed His blood to take the full penalty of your sins on the cross so you wouldn’t have to take the penalty yourself in any flames at all.

Place your trusting faith in Jesus now! Jesus will change your life for the better and turn you away from your sins and will work in your life both to will and to do for His good pleasure. The eternal joys in Heaven will await you.

Who was the first bishop of Rome? http://maverickchristians.com/2020/09/20/who-was-the-first-bishop-of-rome/ Sun, 20 Sep 2020 20:28:45 +0000 http://maverickchristians.com/?p=15653 Seeing that Saint Peter was never in Rome, who was its first bishop?

CATHOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

Since Peter the Apostle was never in Rome (see previous page discussing) and could not, therefore, have been its first bishop. Who then is it that is the “Peter” spoken of by a number of ancient writers that became the first bishop of Rome?

This appears to likely be Simon Magus, known as Simon the Sorcerer in the book of Acts. This was more than just a mistaken identity. A widespread deception was made and started by Simon Magus himself and propagated ignorantly by some Christian writers as well as others who authored counterfeit articles.

Simon Magus was the one who previously deceived many in Samaria to be, as if he really was, “The great power of God” due to his abundant sorceries. Later in history, this “Simon” feigned himself to be the Messiah, then moved to Rome and claimed to be Simon Peter. In the First Apology of Justin Martyr, Simon Magus is mentioned to have been in Rome…

The First Apology of Justin, chapter 56…

But the evil spirits were not satisfied with saying, before Christ’s appearance, that those who were said to be sons of Jupiter were born of him; but after He had appeared and been born among men, and when they learned how He had been foretold by the prophets, and knew that He should be believed on and looked for by every nation, they again, as was said above, put forward other men, the Samaritans Simon and Meander, who did many mighty works by magic, and deceived many, and still keep them deceived. For even among yourselves, as we said before, Simon was in the royal city Rome in the reign of Claudius Cæsar, and so greatly astonished the sacred senate and people of the Romans, that he was considered a god, and honoured, like the others whom you honour as gods with a statue. Wherefore we pray that the sacred senate and your people may, along with yourselves, be arbiters of this our memorial, in order that if any one be entangled by that man’s doctrines, he may learn the truth, and so be able to escape error; and as for the statue, if you please, destroy it.

This charade, pretending to be Peter the Apostle, could only have been accomplished by someone who would desire to pretend to be him and was experienced in pulling off such lies. After all, Simon the Sorcerer did bewitch many in Samaria with his sorceries. The people of Rome did not know the real Peter personally. In any case, the real Peter was never there. Paul never mentions Peter sending greetings when many others did when he was there. Justin Martyr and Irenæus both cite that there was an image was built in Rome in honor of Simon Magus who eventually feigned himself as Peter.

Irenæus Against Heresies, chapter 23, paragraph 1…

Simon the Samaritan was that magician of whom Luke, the disciple and follower of the apostle, says, “But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who beforetime used magical arts in that city, and led astray the people of Samaria, declaring that he himself was some great one, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This is the power of God, which is called great. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had driven them mad by his sorceries.” This Simon, then – who feigned faith, supposing that the apostles themselves performed their cures by the art of magic, and not by the power of God; and with respect to their filling with the Holy Ghost, through the imposition of hands, those that believed in God through Him who was preached by them, namely, Christ Jesus – suspecting that even this was done through a kind of greater knowledge of magic, and offering money to the apostles, thought he, too, might receive this power of bestowing the Holy Spirit on whomsoever he would, – was addressed in these word by Peter: “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God can be purchased with money: thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God; for I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.” He, then, not putting faith in God a whit the more, set himself eagerly to contend against the apostles, in order that he himself might seem to be a wonderful being, and applied himself with still greater zeal to the study of the whole magic art, that he might the better bewilder and overpower multitudes of men. Such was his procedure in the reign of Claudis Cæser, by whom also he is said to have been honoured with a statue, on account of his magical power. This man, then was glorified by many as if he were a god; and he taught that it was himself who appeared among the Jews as the Son, but descended in Samaria as the Father while he came to other nations in the character of the Holy Spirit. He represented himself, in a word, as being the loftiest of all powers, that is, the Being who is the Father over all, and he allowed himself to be called by whatsoever title men were pleased to address him.

Leucius Charinus in his writing known as “The Acts of Peter” also acclaims Simon Magus as being in Rome, however, the writing stands to be in doubt whereas also it exists now clearly corrupted from the original Greek text when it was copied into Latin from Greek in the 7th Century and shown as altered from its original text. There are also other writings with variations of this tale. Furthermore, this writing of Charinus, holds to Peter being in Rome refuting Simon Magus, which, as previously stated, could not have happened in Rome due to the Holy Bible’s own testimony. Peter was in Babylon as the Bible itself shows and was never in Rome.

The teachings of Simon Magus did not stop in the first century, they continued in Rome. In Justin Martyr’s second shorter apologetical writing for the Christians, he described this when he wrote between the years of 150-157 A.D. addressing the Roman Senate.

The Second Apology of Justin, conclusion…

And I despised the wicked and deceitful doctrine of Simon of my own nation. And if you give this book your authority, we will expose him before all, that, if possible, they may be converted. For this end alone did we compose this treatise. And our doctrines are not shameful, according to a sober judgment, but are indeed more lofty than all human philosophy; and if not so, they are at least unlike the doctrines of the Sotadists, and Philænidians, and Dancers, and Epicureans, and such other teachings of the poets, which all are allowed to acquaint themselves with, both as acted and as written. And henceforth we shall be silent, having done as much as we could, and having added the prayer that all men everywhere may be counted worth of the truth. And would that you also, in a manner becoming piety and philosophy, would for your own sakes judge justly!

Peter the Apostle was never in Rome http://maverickchristians.com/2020/09/09/peter-the-apostle-was-never-in-rome/ Wed, 09 Sep 2020 20:12:57 +0000 http://maverickchristians.com/?p=15527 Saint Peter said he was in Babylon, yet Babylon was destroyed. So where was he really? With Saint Mark!

CATHOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

She who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Mark my son.
                    – 1 Peter 5:13 (NKJV)

Peter was not in Rome. Peter was never in Rome. Peter said he was in Babylon. Still, often the name “Babylon” has confused people as to where the Apostle Peter was. (The “She” who is in Babylon” is the church there.)

This cannot be ancient Babylon in Mesopotamia because that place was emptied by the Lord as the Scriptures mention…

And the land will tremble and sorrow; for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant. – Jeremiah 51:29 (NKJV)

And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It will never be inhabited, nor will it be settled from generation to generation; nor will the Arabian pitch tents there, nor will the shepherds make their sheepfolds there. – Isaiah 13:19-20 (NKJV)

Still, the Scriptures do say “Babylon” is where Peter was. Therefore, it gets commonly mentioned that it is Rome where Peter was, seeing that Rome is called “Babylon the Great”, as talked of in Revelation chapters 17 and 18. Yet, that is not, in name, “Babylon” itself.

Could “Babylon” actually be referring to another place? YES! Actually, in fact, it does!

*** It is Babylon at the Nile Delta in Egypt. ***

History shows that St. Mark was a missionary to Alexandria, Egypt which is also in the Nile Delta region. Saint Mark was a traveling companion of Saint Peter. Mark was not in Rome because Peter, who was in Babylon of Egypt, was not there with him. Paul was in Rome and mentioned that Mark was not there. When the Apostle Paul arrived in Rome, the Christians told him there…

Then they said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you. – Acts 28:21 (NKJV)

Therefore, Peter was not there in Rome to give a testimony about Paul. Later, when Paul wrote writings from Rome, he passed on greetings from a number of other Christians, but never from Peter because he was not there later either.

Near the end of his earthly life, Paul said…

Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.
– 2 Timothy 4:11 (NKJV)

Paul and Mark went separate ways much earlier…

36 Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.” 37 Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark. 38 But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. 39 Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; 40 but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches. – Acts 15:36-41 (NKJV)

Anytime that Mark may have been in Rome, he was not there with unmentioned Peter. At the time of Paul’s second imprisonment in Rome, there was no one else significant, mentioned in the Bible, as being with Paul in Rome besides Luke. Certainly Peter was not mentioned for it was when Paul wrote the 2nd Timothy letter that just afterwards Peter writes the 1st Peter letter from Babylon in Egypt.

PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME PETER NEVER IN ROME

Furthermore, Paul clearly stated…

And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation, – Romans 15:20 (NKJV)

Paul also clarifies for us that Peter (Cephas) was not going to be with him on the trip as they were going in different ministerial directions.

Paul further reiterated to make the point…

6 But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. 7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter 8 (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), 9 and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. – Galatians 2:6-10 (NKJV)

If Peter, also called Cephas, was there in Rome, Paul would have been building upon the foundation of Peter’s preaching there. Paul, in all his greetings to the Romans in his letter, never addressed Peter since Peter was not in Rome (See greetings list in Romans 16). Mark was in the Nile Delta region and was with Peter in the Babylon that was there. Alexandria is in the West of the Nile Delta while Babylon was in the South there.

Yes, Mark, in the past, was with Paul in Rome but later left and only Luke was with Paul. Peter was never in Rome and not with Paul there. Peter told how Mark was with him in Babylon while Paul wrote to Timothy to send Mark to him as Paul was in Rome. Therefore, wherever you believe Peter was, it is, nonetheless, evident that Peter was not in Rome. You don’t have to take my word for it. You can see this for yourself in the Holy Bible verses quoted here in this article. Remember 1 Peter 5:13 and 2 Timothy 4:11!

Mary is not the Mother of God http://maverickchristians.com/2019/04/09/mary-is-not-the-mother-of-god/ Tue, 09 Apr 2019 23:23:39 +0000 http://old.maverickchristians.com/?p=12987 Mary is the mother of Jesus who is the Christ, the Son of God, who is God.
Yet, Mary is NOT the Mother of God!

CATHOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

Mary did give birth to Jesus. Yet, Mary did not give birth to the Godhead. She did not give birth to God the Father. Mary did not give birth to the Holy Spirit.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
– Luke 1:31-32 (KJV)

Mary is the mother of Jesus in His humanity. However, Mary is not the mother of Jesus in His Deity. Jesus existed in Heaven prior to Mary. Therefore, Mary is not the Mother of God. When did Mary ever claim to be the “Mother of God”?

Whoever in the Holy Bible ever said that Mary was the “Mother of God”? Who said Mary was to get worship as his mother? The one time in the Bible someone said something to praise Mary, Jesus Himself corrected her…

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
– Luke 11:27-28 (KJV)

Neither is Mary the “Queen of Heaven”, which is a title for the pagan goddess Ashteroth.
Read Jeremiah 44:15-23 (KJV)…

15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken unto thee.

17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them, and came it not into his mind?

22 So that the Lord could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

The worship of Mary is utter blasphemy against God who alone is worthy of worship.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

The strong public sentiment that is everywhere found against obtaining money under false pretenses should apply to the Roman Catholic priests who extort money from deceived relatives for masses which they pretend will better the conditions of the dead. This is an imposition that should be earnestly condemned. The priest who tells a suffering husband or mother that his dead wife or her daughter is in a place called purgatory, and that his prayers, to be paid for with cash in hand, are necessary for the release of the soul of such a dead person from this man-made purgatory, is surely an imposter, and ought to be counted with those who obtain money under false pretenses. The Church that maintains this species of dishonesty should be held in disrepute by all honest people regardless of their religious differences.

There is no system of gambling, no species of fraud, more brazen or barefaced than this priestly game of playing upon the love and tender memories of bereaved people to cheat them out of their ofttimes hard-earned and scanty wages. Yet these nefarious operations are sanctioned by the Romish Church, and are practiced daily in every part of the world where this church exists; and the wounds of sorrowing and heartbroken relatives are made to bleed afresh by the constant demands of the Church for masses to insure rest for their beloved dead.

A Catholic has the fear of hell brought before him all his life by the priests, the terrors of which he is taught can only be avoided by good works and the payment of money; and after he dies his relatives are levied upon for years for funds to employ a priest who pretends to pray him out of purgatory. A dead Roman Catholic is never forgotten by the priest while his relatives have a penny that can be extorted from them. If they have no money, or will not pay for masses the soul of the dead may, so far as the priests are concerned, suffer in purgatory, or be cast into hell forthwith.

How well the Saviour’s words in Matthew 23:14 describe the Roman Catholic priests, bishops and popes, “Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widow’s houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.” A woman in Mexico who had lost her only son, was robbed of $5000, practically all she had, by a priest who was engaged to deliver his soul from purgatory. After the priest had obtained the money, he was asked whether the son was now in heaven, but he only said that he was some better off, and left the heart of the poor mother to her grief.

No species of swindling ever invented by villainous man can compare in cold-blooded atrocity and cruelty with this priestly scheme. The Catholic believer is followed by the priests through all his life, and after his death relatives are pursued for money to pay impostors for benefits they pretend to dispense, or withhold.

The priest, in order to get more money out of his deceived people, has two masses—high mass and low mass. The high mass costs from ten to one thousand dollars or more, according to the display of flowers, candles and the number of priests taking part, and it is sung in a loud tone of voice. The low mass costs about five dollars. Only six candles are used, and it is said in a low voice.

The essence of the low fraud is of course equal to the essence of the high. One is as good as the other, but the laity are made to believe that the high mass is far superior to the low, and in nine cases out of ten the poor as well as the rich will in some way gather together money for a high mass, believing it will help the suffering soul through purgatory more quickly than a low mass. It is high money, high mass, low money, low mass, no money, no mass.

Death does not end all with the Roman Catholic Church. A member cannot avoid his church dues by dying. His estate or friends have to pay on and pay forever. Even the tax collector gives up a dead man, but the Romish Church never. It retains its grip on its followers long after their bodies are reduced to ashes. The priestly threat of sending the soul from purgatory into hell will bring the last dollar from the pocket of the sorrowing mother, whose only daughter sleeps in her dark and narrow cell. She scrapes together her scanty means, denies herself every comfort in order to purchase prayers for the supposed repose or promotion of the souls of her dead darling. And these sums stolen from the pockets of thousands of superstitious, religious slaves every day, and almost every hour, throughout these United States are hoarded to enrich the Romish Church, and tell us with no uncertain sound that all true religious liberty shall cease as soon as this Church obtains a numerical majority of the voting population.

Purgatory is a downright, naked, bare-faced falsehood; an invention of man inspired by Satan for the destruction of souls. The Word of God states with all authority: We are “Not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold; but with the new birth, states our Lord in the Gospel of St. John, chapter 3, that is, by being born spiritually, from above. Purgatory is one of the most gigantic and stupendous frauds and delusions of the ages.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6

You may show your initial faith in Jesus by this prayer…

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I confess all of my sins to you. I believe that you, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins and were raised from the dead for my justification. Now, I trust in God solely through you, Jesus, for my salvation. I repent of my sins and accept you into my life to be my Savior and my Lord. Thank you for the free gift of eternal life. Amen.

Now that you have received Jesus as your Savior, live the Christian life…

Destroy any graven images you have or use in prayer and pray to God solely in Jesus name.

Listen for God and read the Holy Bible every day relying on it as God’s word to you.

Attend a good Bible-believing church that trusts the Holy Bible for faith and living.

Wide assumption about Saint Mary http://maverickchristians.com/2016/11/09/wide-assumption-about-saint-mary/ Wed, 09 Nov 2016 18:27:23 +0000 http://old.maverickchristians.com/?p=9265
To tell you this, plain and simple…
Saint Mary cannot mediate for you to God.

“Saint Mary cannot mediate for me? Why not?”

Because it is written…

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
– 1 Timothy 2:5 RSVCE*

*Scripture quotations are from The Catholic Edition of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, copyright © 1965, 1966 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved worldwide.

“We Catholics don’t go to Mary as our mediator. Mary intercedes for us! Jesus is the one mediator.   When we go to Mary, she prays to Jesus for us and He goes to God!”

Mary cannot intercede for you, either. It is written…

The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office; but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. – Hebrews 7:23-25 RSVCE

You are not supposed to seek the dead, such as Mary, to intercede for you. You are to seek Jesus Christ, who is the living divine Son of God, risen from the dead and ascended to Heaven. The passage above speaks about how Jesus continually intercedes for us. As it is also written…

And when they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
– Isaiah 8:19 RSVCE

Mary is not God as is Jesus Christ, who is the incarnate Son of God. You should be seeking God through His Son Jesus, who together with God the Father, is the same One God. Jesus is risen alive. Mary is not.

“Ah, but Mary is not dead! Jesus came and assumpted her body and soul into Heaven to be with Him.”

The assumption of Saint Mary is simply that. It is accepted as Roman Catholic doctrine as true and certain that it happened without proof, but only based upon presumption. Mary is yet dead because the Holy Bible teaches…

For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. – 1 Corinthians 15:21-23 RSVCE

Mary will be made alive at the coming of Jesus together with all the other true believers in Jesus. She is not alive in the body yet. There is no proof she can hear you and there is no Biblical evidence that God has raised her up as an intercessor.

The Roman Catholic Church did not even declare the “Assumption of Mary” doctrinally until Pope Pius XII very late in 1950 A.D.

“Does everything God says end when the Holy Bible was completed? I believe He continues speaking.”

Everything God said as His covenant word is recorded in the books of the Holy Bible. Later writers were NOT writing the Holy Covenant of God and they frequently disagreed with each other on many matters. Their writings cannot be faithfully relied upon as Holy Writ. The Apostle Paul wrote…

I have applied all this to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brethren, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, – 1 Corinthians 4:6a RSVCE

The expression “what is written” mentioned here is common in the Bible and refers to the Holy Scriptures themselves alone as it does elsewhere in the Bible. These other writings are beyond what is written in the Holy Scriptures.

You err by directing your prayers to Mary. If you believe you are getting answers by prayers to her, it could NOT have been Saint Mary answering you. Since you would be going beyond “what is written” by praying to her, who do you believe would be speaking to you? The devil is a deceiver.

If the Roman Catholic Church says that Jesus Christ is the Mediator between God and men, where do they come off by saying Mary is a Mediatrix? Pray to God solely through His Son.

how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, – Hebrews 9:13-14a RSVCE

Roman Catholic priest sex scandals censored http://maverickchristians.com/2016/05/10/roman-catholic-priest-sex-scandals-censored/ Wed, 11 May 2016 00:38:51 +0000 http://old.maverickchristians.com/?p=7556 We regret the need to mention this topic but enough is enough and there have been far too many victims.
This ungodly world holds to a higher moral standard than the Roman Catholic Church does.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

The Roman Catholic Church did not turn willingly but had to submit to the pressure to avoid further public scandal. They could not keep private their dirty secret sex scandals any longer.

For centuries, Roman Catholic priests have had sinful sexual relationships of fornication with women without being married to them and committed acts of homosexuality. The scandal broke public due to the illegal nature of their acts of pedophilia. These “pee-pee touching” Roman Catholic priests continue on and on with these abominations.

You might ask, Does sexual abuse not also happen in Protestant churches?” The answer is “Yes!” However, note the differences. If a Roman Catholic priest is caught committing fornication or homosexuality he can still continue as a Roman Catholic priest as allowed by their hierarchy. Such is not true among Protestants. The disciplinary process among Protestants is not the immediate shift to lead a different church.

If such acts were allowed to continue in Protestant churches in such a permissive way as done in the Roman Catholic Church, such disrepute would scandalize the denomination to where committed Christians would leave it. A Protestant minister caught in a scandal would quickly lose his ministerial license.

However, a Roman Catholic priest, if found as a pedophile, would only be moved to a different parish. Will their parishoners accept this and stay?

Who are the ones who protest this abomination which still goes on?

The ones who object the most regarding the scandals in the Roman Catholic Church is not the Roman Catholic hierarchy, nor the Protestants, but the Roman Catholic people themselves. If a Protestant minister cheated on his wife, such scandal would ruin him to serve as a licensed minister and most likely ruin his marriage as well. For a Roman Catholic priest committing acts of pedophilia they only move him to a new parish unless the scandal becomes so well-known that they cannot. This is not to mention the practice of homosexuality with adults, allowed by law, which they commit.

Publicity of the scandals resulted in the Roman Catholic Church allegedly addressing the issues within their own ranks. Sadly, it has changed nothing. It only is a measure to curb the protests. Sexual scandals still go on while they attempt to prevent negative publicity. Dare you send your children, whether boys or girls, to a Catholic school? God forbid! Roman Catholic priests continue on in sexual sins which their church has hidden for centuries.

Why did such pedophilia become the norm for Roman Catholicism? Could it be that it is a tool for recruiting the next generation to be their priests? The sexual immorality of nuns with priests has a long history. This is not a big issue in the media since such sins are yet legal. Is this really the church you find holy and want to attend? Yes, indeed, think about your kids! Also, think about who you give your money to as well.

The censorship of discussion about the sexual abuse of Roman Catholic priests

In public discussion groups such as Catholic-Protestant discussion groups in Facebook, the more militant Roman Catholics seek to quickly prevent discussions of sexual scandals so that their denomination is not further publicly criticized. They will demand that forum rules will exclude the topic.

The Roman Catholic apologists have their “explanations” how the Spanish Inquisition really did not happen as badly has been told, as they claim, nor how other embarrassing situations for the Church of Rome never allegedly occurred. However, they cannot deny how their priests have been massively sexually abusing little boys worldwide at this current time.

Therefore, such eager, proseltyzing Roman Catholics will seek that discussion on the topic of sex scandals not be allowed in such public forums and actively censor it. Should not rather their priests be stopped from sexually abusing rather than stopping the discussion seeking to prevent it?

The Roman Catholic Church cannot solve this

Legal authorities have sought to prevent sexual abuse by tougher laws to penalize the crimes. This does not work. If, hypothetically, there were laws against heterosexuality it would not stop such people from having such relationships. Heterosexuals would only keep such relationships hidden and secret. The same goes on with sexual abusers of minors. Laws do not change sinful nature.

Neither can the laws of the Roman Catholic Church change someone. A false gospel of salvation by works cannot deliver people from their own sinful nature. The system of “sacramental salvation” in the Roman church is about doing works to receive grace, which is not how grace is received. As it is written in Romans 11:6a, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

What is needed is for people to place their entire trusting faith in God solely through His Son Jesus Christ for salvation. The Holy Bible clearly says in Romans 5:1, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” This is how to receive the new nature from God which turns us away from sin to serve Him. As Jesus Christ Himself said, “Ye must be born again”.

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. – Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)
