Scriptural Encouragement

Feeling crabby?

I need a vacation!

Our first year of marriage: THE OFFICIAL REPORT

We felt pretty crabby during our honeymoon.

But later we learned to laugh about each others’ little annoying habits.

We even built a lifestyle together of embracing each other’s acute weirdness.

Does this sound like you? O.K., maybe not.

So, do you feel a little crabby?

The secret to a happy marriage.
Alright now, guys, listen up, this is it. You wanted to know, right? You want to know how to have a happy marriage? Well here it is and it is so simple! It is all summed up in four words. Learn them well… DO WHATEVER SHE SAYS.

“I need a vacation!”

O.K., you can pick up your jaw from the floor now. Now I’m talking to you man to man. Get over the shock of it. That’s right. If you do whatever she says and you will have learned the secret to a happy marriage. Does this surprise you? Do you honestly doubt this? Perhaps you’ve fooled yourself into thinking that what you are doing is really pleasing your wife when actually you’re not.

Why do you make life hard on yourselves, guys? Just do what your wife wants. It will keep you out of a lot of trouble.

Well, I don’t agree with that, brother, because the Bible says…

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. – Ephesians 5:22-24

Yes, the Bible says that but OH NO, brother, that is NOT written for you. That is written to WIVES, not husbands. This is the Bible verse you need to pay attention to…

But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. – 1 Corinthians 7:32b

So how many years have you been married now and you haven’t learned this yet? Oh, you are in big trouble! So what were you thinking when you got married to her? So, do you, brother? Do you please your wife? By the way, haven’t you also read the verse before the passage you cited…

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. – Ephesians 5:21

If your faith is in God solely through His Son Jesus Christ for salvation, then in reverence to God you will labor to please Him and also to please your wife.

Yes, but what about her?

Well, the Bible does also say…

but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. – 1 Corinthians 7:34d

Now, was that “yes” you said simply an acknowledgement of what I had just said or do you really please your wife? Sounds as if you have yet some reservations about that. And what about what the Bible says one verse after what you quoted?…

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; – Ephesians 5:25

How about that, brother? Do you give yourself for your wife? Know also that just as God through Christ Jesus freely accepts us and forgives us of all of our sins, we all need to do that with each other. I think somebody sounds a little crabby.

Talk about crabby, you should hear what she says about once a month! She really rips me apart with her words and makes me feel so small.

You mean that you honestly believe everything that comes out of her mouth? If you do that you’ll go nuts! Have you ever considered she may be responding emotionally rather than literally objective about things?

Doing what she says is not always doing exactly what she says but doing what she is calling you to help her with. What is she really saying to you, guy? There will be certain difficult times you will need to stand up to be the man yet this is about pleasing your wife that you may together have a happy marriage.
